Why's your coated webbing easy to come apart?

Coated webbing is more and more widely used in our daily life. So purchasers have more chance to touch coated webbing. But come purchasers may find that the coated webbing they bought was easy to come apart. In another words, the outer plastic layer is easy to separate from the inner webbing. Why comes that phenomenon?

1. Use of Inferior Materials

(1) Inferior TPU materials

* Low-quality TPU raw materials: Some manufacturers may choose low-quality TPU raw materials to reduce costs. These materials do not have the same durability and adhesion properties as high-quality TPU, leading to the webbing straps coming apart during use.

* Recycled materials: Some manufacturers use recycled TPU materials, which have diminished physical properties after multiple processing cycles, making them prone to aging and breaking, resulting in the coated webbing straps coming apart.

(2) Inferior inner webbing straps

* Low-quality webbing: The choice of low-quality materials for the inner webbing also affects the overall performance of the coated webbing straps. Low-quality webbing might not bond well with the TPU material, leading to separation issues.

2. Subpar Production Processes

(1) Immature coating process

* Improper temperature control: Temperature control is crucial during the coating process. If the temperature is too high or too low, it can affect the adhesion between the TPU material and the inner webbing, causing the final product to come apart.

* Unstable extrusion process: The production of coated webbing straps requires a stable extrusion process. If the equipment is unstable or operated improperly, it can result in uneven coating thickness or insufficient adhesion, leading to separation issues.

(2) Poor production workflow

* Insufficient pre-treatment: The inner webbing needs thorough cleaning and pre-treatment before coating. If these steps are not done adequately, the adhesion between the TPU material and the webbing will be weak, resulting in poor bonding.

* Improper cooling: The cooling process after coating is also critical. If not done correctly, the coating layer may develop internal stresses, leading to separation.

3. External Factors

(1) Environmental factors

* Extreme temperatures: TPU materials can degrade in extreme temperatures. Prolonged exposure to high or low temperatures can cause the coated webbing straps to age and come apart.

* Humidity and Chemicals: High humidity or exposure to certain chemicals can also degrade the performance of TPU materials, leading to separation issues.

(2) Usage factors

* Overstretching: Excessive stretching or overloading during use can cause the TPU material to separate from the inner webbing.

* Mechanical damage: The coated webbing straps might suffer mechanical damage, such as cuts or abrasions, during use, leading to separation.
