Make PVC coated webbing smooth

Coated webbing is more and more widely used in our daily life. For example, dog collar, dog leash, bag strap and many outdoor products use coated webbing because of its good performance. Now there are three kinds of materials for coated webbing, including TPU, PVC and silicone. PVC coated webbing is the most popular one because it’s soft and cheap. However, PVC coated webbing owns its shortage. For instance, it has bad peel-off strength, which means that the inner webbing is easy to be separated from the PVC layer. Besides, PVC webbing is easy to absorb dust on surface because of its feature of material.

Since PVC coated webbing is still popular to market, we try to give it the smooth surface to solve the problem of absorbing surface. How to make it come true?

With the research and practice, now we figure out two methods to give the smooth surface to PVC coated webbing. The first one is surface treatment. The treatment will be carried out after the PVC coated webbing is totally extruded. Actually, surface treatment is a kind of steps of post processing. The other one refers to our new technology. Last year, Sunmolin developed new technology on coated webbing extrusion to give the coated webbing special surface with special texture. At the beginning, we use the new technology on TPU coated webbing only. Because we found that the feature of TPU match the new technology more. This year, we tried to use the technology to make PVC coated webbing smooth and finally it worked. Compared with surface treatment, PVC coated webbing produced with our new technology doesn’t refer to post processing. No matter the special texture or the smooth surface of PVC webbing exists when the webbing produced from machine.

When PVC coated webbing owns smooth surface, it becomes skin-friendly, much more easy to clean and not easy to absorb dust. If there are two types of PVC coated webbing dog leash for chosen, the one is regular PVC webbing and the other one owns good hand-feeling, then which one would like?

Although both the two ways can make PVC coated webbing smooth, surface treatment may not as good as using our new technology for customers. After all, the PVC webbing will not only contain PVC material after surface treatment. On contrast, producing PVC coated webbing with our new technology is the physical effect.
